What to Expect
Our first few sessions will be about getting to know each other, discussing what you'd like to work on, and getting comfortable with the therapeutic process. We will determine what goals you have and what you'd like to gain from therapy.
Every person is different so the therapeutic process will look different for everyone. My approach incorporates different modalities to tailor my services to best meet your individual needs.
I primarily draw from IFS (Internal Family Systems), EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) experiential, somatic, and depth modalities. Additionally, I will often integrate CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), and trauma informed research to guide my work.
What does this all mean? Basically, I take a holistic approach to understand your experiences. Sessions may include talk therapy, relaxation techniques, somatic processing, and they will always include a healthy dose of compassion and curiosity.

More about IFS
From an IFS perspective, I believe everyone is made up different parts and an innate Self. Have you ever felt like a part of you wants 'abc', but another part of you wants 'xyz?' That's sometimes how parts show up for us. They often have different needs, different agendas, and sometimes it can feel very confusing!
For example, let's say there is a part of you that wants to have a genuine, close romantic relationship but another part of you is afraid to let anyone truly get to know you. Maybe there is a part of you that is ready to start therapy and can't wait to start on your healing journey, AND there is another part of you that is still apprehensive about getting help, saying "I don't really need therapy." I get it! Our parts can cause a lot of internal conflict and chaos, and I want you to know that all parts are welcome. Truly! Together, we will get to know all the parts of you, even the ones you dislike, so that you can stop battling with your parts and start living in peace with your Self!
More about EMDR
EMDR therapy believes that our minds and bodies naturally work toward a state of integration and healing. EMDR can help memories, emotions, traumas, beliefs, and body sensations that are stuck in the nervous system move toward a state of healing and integration. Often times our old, negative memories can become entwined with new experiences, causing anxiety, fear, or other unpleasant feelings to interfere with our happiness. EMDR helps us process memories and emotions using bilateral dual attention stimulation so that the past no longer mucks up our present, or our future!
